Lulung Painters’ Camp 2024 was jointly organized by Ketaki Foundation Trust and Lulung Aranya Nivas which took place from 10th-15th September. Participants were welcomed by local dance troupes on their indigenous beat.
The camp commenced with the welcome address by Dr. Samrat Gowda, Deputy Director, Similipal Tiger Reserve and Ms. Sourabha Gowda, noted photographer. Sri Ramahari Jena, renowned painter and printmaker who was the convenor of the camp and Sri Jyotiranjan Swain, Managing Trustee, Ketaki Foundation Trust felicitated the artists. The session was an engaging deliberation on the preservation of biodiversity and sustenance of the communities involved.
The agenda consisted of active participation of the artists with the school children, engaging them in productive activities like story telling and essay writing. Organising art workshops for women to revive the traditional art of jhoti – chitra on brown paper was a special creative endeavor by the Trust. In addition to promoting traditional art, the Trust donated books, paintings of eminent personalities of Odisha to the children and home utility objects to women.
To stress on the significance of art in the society, Sri Ashwin Kumar Panda, a social motivator as a guest along with the promoters of Lulung Aranya Nivas Sri Sanjeev Kumar Nayak and Architect Sri Sugat Mohanty, Trustee, respected trustees of Ketaki Foundation Trust, Dr. Rabindra Kumar Swain, noted poet and Sri Kapilas Bhuyan, senior journalist and distinguished filmmaker attended the Camp. They had a constructive discussion on social impact that art has had on the society and where the worth of art could be discerned through poetic and cinematic insights.
As the resourceful sessions ended, artists were gifted with mementos, specifically crafted in Ketaki Foundation Trust’s signature style in stoneware. The camp wrapped up with the artists’ delightful experiences and their gratitude towards the venue.
Ketaki Foundation Trust is committed to publishing, preserving, promoting art, culture and literature of Odisha. It is actively involved in philanthropy successfully executing related projects across diverse fields.
