Thousands of followers of Jayanta Mahapatra’s works and events joined the programme through facebook live.

The audience listened to the enchanting narrative on his work and life by Jayanta Mahapatra.

Jayanta Mahapatra, basically an English poet from Odisha, turned to Odia and has produced around a dozen books of poems in Odia. Although he continues to write in English till today, which numbers as good as 20 volumes, he wrote his autobiography in Odia and it is titled Bhor Motira Kanaphula. This book of around 360 pages, published by Ketaki Foundation Trust covers the events in Mahapatra’s life up to his present age. Bhor Motira Kanaphula is a unique autobiography in Odia language as it is more contemplative in nature than offering anecdotes and events in his life, more revelatory of the workings of a poet’s mind. Jayanta Mahapatra, who is regarded as a poet of international renown, has now through the pages of this book, established himself as a lyrical Odia prose writer. Those of the avid readers of his poetry will be delighted to have this autobiography. The author, to the delight of his readers, signed the copies.

The book is a publication by Ketaki Foundation Trust, Bhubaneswar and is designed by Jyoti Ranjan Swain of Third Eye Communication, Odisha.

The event was given wide coverage by print and electronic media.

This book is on sale in select stores of Bhubaneswar and online at Amazon and Flipkart.
