In a remarkable celebration of World Poetry Day and Down Syndrome Day, Ketaki Foundation Trust, in collaboration with Swabhiman, hosted an inspiring event themed around inclusion, disability, and diversity. Held at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan in Bhubaneswar, this gathering provided a platform for poets, artists, and advocates to express the experiences, challenges, and beauty within the disability community.
Distinguished guests, including poet Kedar Mishra, disability rights advocate Dr. Sruti Mahapatra, writer Swapna Mishra, public servant Sanyasi Behera, and artist-poet Biraja Prasad Routray, shared insightful poetry and artistic perspectives, emphasizing the transformative role of art in fostering inclusivity. A notable highlight was Kamala Kanta Ratha’s impactful cartoon poster, which captured the spirit of the evening.
The audience engaged deeply with the performances, with poetry recitations from participants and heartfelt dance performances by children of parents who presented their poems. This dynamic event inspired attendees to view disability through a lens of ability and resilience, promoting awareness and empathy through the powerful medium of poetry.
