Celebrating World Photography Day

On 19 August 2024, Ketaki Foundation Trust and Silicon University came together to celebrate World Photography Day with Obscura – A Presentation and Discussion on Photography. Held at Silicon University, Bhubaneswar, the event was an exciting opportunity for students, photography enthusiasts, and art lovers to engage with experts and learn from their experiences.

Event Overview

The program featured insightful presentations from well-known photographers and professionals, designed to inspire and educate the members of the Silicon Photography Club.

Kapilas Bhuyan, journalist, filmmaker, and trustee of Ketaki Foundation Trust, opened the event by welcoming guests and attendees.

Dr. Jaideep Talukdar, Vice Chancellor of Silicon University and the event’s Chief Guest, motivated students with his encouraging remarks, while Shri Sanjoy Patnaik, eminent filmmaker and writer, spoke on the “Sociology of Moving Images”, highlighting the influence of visual media on youth and society.

The program’s curator, Shri Ashis Dhir, a renowned photographer, shared his inspiring journey of documenting the “Tribals of Odisha”, offering a captivating visual presentation of his work.

Interactive Session

One of the most engaging parts of the event was the interactive Q&A session, where students had the chance to ask questions and discuss various aspects of photography with the experts. This lively exchange provided attendees with practical insights into the technical and artistic elements of the craft.

Thanks to the support from the university’s management and faculty, Obscura was a resounding success. It offered an invaluable learning experience for the students of the Silicon Photography Club, leaving them with fresh perspectives and inspiration to further explore the art of photography.
